BXD NIA Alzheimer's Studies

The AD-BXD are derived from crosses between 5XFAD (https://www.jax.org/strain/008730) females and BXD males to produce replicable isogenic F1 transgenic (carriers of the 5XFAD transgene) and non-transgenic (control) littermate progeny. The important note is that the entire litter is genetically and environmentally identical except for the presence of the transgene. Mice were generated at UTHSC or JAX (origin) from 10th December 20219 onwards. The majority of mice were tested for a range of behavioral and physical phenotypes at 6 and 14 months of age. QTL mapping is carried out using the genotype of the corresponding BXD parent. The original AD-BXD panel was developed by Kaczorowski, Neuner, and colleagues (Neuner et al., 2019a, 2019b) Neuner, S.
